About us

City Vending was formed in Edinburgh in 1967 by Ian Plummer, Derek Cowan and Ron McAllister. The company grew to become one of the largest in the industry with branches in Newcastle, Leeds, Belfast and London. It also had a subsidiary in St Louis, Missouri, USA, from 1982 to 1992, making it the first to take vending back to it's spiritual home.

The experience gained from these years and from Plummer's study tours, meeting and exchanging views with vending companies throughout the United States, Japan and Europe have been encapsulated into the working methods and quality dedication to be found in City Vending today. Plummer was also active in the trade association, The Automatic Vending Association, was National Chairman from 1982 - 1984 as well as Scottish Chairman and a member of the Board for many years.

‘City Vending continues to believe in quality products and excellent caring service as the ingredients of it's success.’

Over the years, City Vending has run contracts with companies large and small, including household names such as Abbey National, Brittanic Assurance, Houses of Parliament, British Airways, John Menzies Distribution, Sky Television, Fife Health Board, Black & Decker, Ford and even DeLorean Motors.

Following the retiral of Derek and Ron, Ian has focused the business, and his experience, back into Scotland, where City Vending is now run his daughter, Michelle Wood (21 years with company) aided by her team, which includes Mike Dickson (29 years), George Clarkson (19 years) and Jim Elder (12 years).

‘You won't find more experience.’
